ART PAPER ‘Collage & Mixed Media’
2 day workshop. $288.00 includes all supplies.
Students will learn ways to create personalized images to apply to paper for personalized hand made decorative papers to use in mixed media; collage, bookmaking, cards and scrap-booking.
Day 1 IMAGES & MARK-MAKING
Morning: “DEMOSTRATIONS AND EDUCATION”
Linocuts; wood blocks ; stencil making , silk screens, and found objects will be discussed and demonstrated to show ways of creating imagery for paper making, Various other mark-making techniques such as frottage and Japanese Sumi –painting and Batik, Applications of Gels, Glazes and Acrylic paints will also be taught to learn various ways to alter; texture and layer images for one of a kind papers.
Participants will learn how to create papers using dried flowers and leaves and how to mix natural dyes using spices and vegetables.
Afternoon: “HANDS ON”
Each Student will be encouraged to experiment with ideas using the above carving and stencil techniques.Participants will design their own individual images using mark making techniques including carving, stencils; frottage, Japanese Sumi painting; gel image building; wax application; acrylic painting, and glazing.
They will combined these various painting and printing techniques to produce personalized images to be used on day two to create collection of one of a kind papers for their studios.
Day 2 CREATION OF DECORATIVE ART PAPERS: Dying and Painting
Morning
Continued Instruction and Demos on how to combine several Day One techniques to further develop your art paper inventory for Collage and Mixed Media. A discussion and exhibit of various Substrates and ground papers will be available.
Afternoon
Student will complete image-making and selection of techniques to create their Paper collection.Most of the day will be used for Hands On Production of personal ART PAPER

- Small Linoleum Block
- Carving tools
- Stencil Papers
- Transfer Papers
- Various Ground Papers such as Bristol, tissue papers, watercolor, drawing
- Inks
- Wax
- Dyes
- Gels
- Glazes
*Students will also have access to Marti’s personal collection of antique Woodblocks from around the world, metal tjapps From Indonesia, Silk-screens and Stencils, ART BOOKS AND IMAGE SOURCES.
